Hierarchy

Hierarchy is a systematic way of organizing each of the elements of a dimension-or the so called 'Members'- into a logical tree structure which defines parent-child aggregation points, where parent members correspond to the consolidation of children members. By arranging Members of a Dimension into a hierarchy, not only do we determine the aggregation of Dimension members, but also simple mathematical summation or addition can be eliminated since the values for each members will automatically sum up or total to its parent aggregate member.
